Directions to Our Practice

If you’ve never been to our Williston location before, here are two easy routes you could use to get to us:

  1. If you’re starting at the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library, get onto Williston Rd heading west, then make a sharp left turn onto Essex Rd, then a right onto Bishop Ave. We’re in the building on your right!
  2. If you’re starting from somewhere like the Get Air Trampoline Park (hopefully not because of a trampoline-related dental emergency), head south, then turn left onto Marshall Ave. Follow the bends to St George Rd, then turn left, and left again onto Bishop Ave, and we’re there on the right at 25 Bishop Ave.

How Much Local History Do You Know?

Williston, Vermont, was established in 1763 under the New Hampshire Grants, an initiative by Governor Benning Wentworth of the colony of New Hampshire. The town was named in honor of Samuel Willis, a notable merchant from New York and one of the original grantees of the land. Interestingly, Samuel Willis never visited Williston, despite having the town named after him. Throughout its history, Williston has been home to various educational institutions, including Pine Ridge, a private boarding high school founded in 1968 to support students with learning disabilities, which remained operational until its closure in 2009.

Architecturally and historically, Williston boasts a remarkable collection of 19th-century civic and religious buildings that add to the town’s charming character. Notable structures include the Old Brick Church, built in 1832 and recognized as one of Vermont’s premier examples of country Gothic architecture; the former Universalist Church, now repurposed as the Town Hall, dating back to 1860; and the Federated Church of 1867, a design by the renowned Boston architect John Stevens.

Additionally, the town has played a significant role as a commercial hub in the region, particularly with its extensive mercantile development on the western edge. Williston also bears historical significance through its connection to the Chittenden family, with Thomas Chittenden, the first governor of Vermont and a key figure during the Vermont Republic era, having lived and been buried here. His residence and many original Chittenden family homes still stand, serving as landmarks and testaments to the town’s rich history.
